We’re incredibly excited to welcome Joel Fergie, also known as The Zookeeper, to South West Mural Fest 2026!
Joel Fergie is an Australian muralist whose work has transformed silos, water towers, and rural structures into monumental public landmarks. Raised in the Northern Territory and deeply inspired by the Australian outback, Joel’s work often celebrates wildlife, landscape, and the stories that shape regional communities.
His large-scale murals span from inner-city spaces to remote towns across Australia, carrying a sense of wonder, place, and public connection wherever they appear.
Joel is best known for major projects such as the Thallon Silos, Sea Lake Silos, Point Cartwright Water Tank, and water tower projects across rural Australia. His Thallon Silo mural, created with Travis Vinson, was featured by National Geographic Travel, named Best Public Art at the 2019 Australian Street Art Awards, and credited with helping bring tourism, pride, and new energy to the…
